The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (hereinafter the “Miraikan”) has set out its Terms of Service regarding the use of online reservation and purchase services (hereinafter the “Services”) for the Miraikan’s permanent exhibitions and Dome Theater tickets (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Tickets”) below. Customers who use the Services will be deemed to have agreed to the Terms. The Terms of Use revised as necessary. Any revision will be announced on this website.
Article 1 - Usage of the Services
- Customers will use the Services in accordance with the Terms and the methods for using the Services stipulated separately.
- If the customer is a minor, they will use the Services upon receiving consent from a legal representative.
- Customers are responsible for making the relevant arrangements (equipment, software, internet contracts, etc.) in order to connect to the internet and use the Services at their own expense. The Miraikan will not be held responsible for any problems experienced by the customer when they can connect to the internet but cannot use the Services normally due to mis operation or network-related issues.
- Customers are responsible for all telecommunications fees and connection fees related to the use of the Services.
- If a customer causes damages to another customer or a third party in connection with use of the Services, or if a dispute arises between the customer and another customer or a third party, the customer will take responsibility, compensate the relevant parties for the damages at their own expense, solve any related disputes, and refrain from causing damage or inconveniences to the Miraikan.
- If a customer violates these Terms or other Miraikan provisions causing damage to the Miraikan, the customer shall compensate the Miraikan for the damages incurred.
Article 2 - Prohibited Acts
Customers will not perform the following acts when using the Services. Customers who conduct prohibited acts may be banned from using the Services after such acts.
- Acts that infringe or may infringe upon the copyrights, property rights, privacy, or other rights of other customers, third parties, or the Miraikan.
- Acts that cause inconveniences or disadvantages to the Miraikan or other customers or third parties who use the Services, and acts that interfere with the Services or other services.
- Criminal acts and acts that lead to or may lead to criminal acts.
- Acts that violate or may violate laws and regulations.
- Acts for the purpose of profit and the preparation of such acts, either directly through or related to the Services.
- Acts of using or providing harmful programs such as computer viruses, either directly through or related to the Services.
- Acts that do or may go against public order, and acts of spreading information that goes against public order to other customers or third parties.
- Acts that hinder or exploit the Miraikan’s business.
- Any other acts that the Miraikan deems inappropriate.
Article 3 - Changes to, Suspension, and Discontinuation of the Services
- The Miraikan may change the content of the Services without notice. In addition, said changes will go into effect when the changed content is made public.

The Miraikan may suspend or discontinue the Services without prior notice for the reasons below. The Miraikan will not be held liable for any damages caused to customers or third parties in connection with said suspensions or discontinuation.
1) When routine or unexpected system maintenance is needed
2) When the Services cannot be provided due to a natural disaster, incident, obstruction by a third party, etc.
3) Other instances when the Miraikan deems it necessary to suspend the Services
Article 4 - Personal Information
- Any personal information entered into the Services is collected in order to provide the Services to customers in a smooth fashion. In general, the collected personal information will not be disclosed or provided to a third party without the consent of the individual. However, in the following cases, personal information may be disclosed and provided to the extent necessary for smooth provision of the Services.
1) In cooperation with affiliated companies that have a confidentiality agreement with the Miraikan
2) When processing personal information into a format that does not identify the individuals and disclosing the personal information as statistical information
3) When required by law
4) When it is determined to be beneficial to the customer or the public - The Services use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to ensure the safety of personal information sent and received on the internet, but this does not guarantee complete security.
Article 5 - Disclaimer
- Customers may not be able to purchase Tickets, or the confirmation of Ticket purchases or related notifications may be significantly delayed due to network congestion or unexpected issues with the system. In these situations, the Miraikan will not be responsible for the outcome of Ticket purchases made by customers or third parties.
- We are not responsible for any issues related to the use of credit cards, regardless of the reason.
- We do not guarantee the accuracy, certainty, completeness, or usefulness of the contents of the Services and the information obtained by customers through the Services. In addition, we are not responsible for any damages to customers caused by computer viruses and other harmful agents.
- The Miraikan will not be held responsible for mistakes made by customers regarding the dates, times, and the number of tickets purchased.
Article 6 - Governing Law and Court of Jurisdiction
If an issue arises between the Miraikan and a customer or a third party related to the Services, both parties shall in good faith attempt to resolve the problem. The governing law regarding the interpretation and application of these Terms shall be Japanese law, and the court of jurisdiction for first instances of disputes regarding the Services will be the Tokyo District Court.
Article 7 - Ticket Reservations and Purchases
- Tickets can be reserved and purchased from midnight one week before the scheduled visit.
- Tickets can be purchased for up to 7 people at a time.
- Dome Theater viewings require a Dome Theater ticket as well as admission to the permanent exhibition via a permanent exhibition ticket or a free admission ticket.
Article 8 - Payment
- When using the Services to purchase tickets, customers pay online via credit card. For discount coupons, please pay at the outdoor ticket booth on the day of your visit.
- For customers who use the Services to book their visit or to reserve or purchase Dome Theater tickets and who plan on using discount tickets, free admission tickets, or annual passports, please bring said discount tickets, free admission tickets, or annual passports to the outdoor ticket booth to claim your Tickets. If you forget to bring said tickets, you will need to pay the standard price for permanent exhibition tickets.
- If a credit card payment cannot be made due to the entry of incorrect details, omissions, or violations to the credit card company’s rules, any Tickets purchased using the Services will be voided. For related inquiries, please contact your credit card company directly.
- Ticket purchases by customers who wish to pay by credit card will be deemed to have been concluded upon completion of the payment procedures by the relevant credit card company. In the case of over-the-counter payment, purchases will be deemed as having been completed once the relevant fees have been received and Tickets have been issued.
Article 9 - Ticket Refunds
- Tickets are non-refundable except in accordance with paragraph 2 of this Article.
- If the Miraikan is temporarily closed or Dome Theater screenings are canceled due to internal reasons, Tickets purchased online through the Services via credit card will be refunded regardless of whether the designated procedures are completed. However, we will not be responsible for covering any transportation expenses to the Miraikan.
- Refunds for Tickets purchased online via credit card will be processed through the credit card company used at the time of purchase.
