Miraikan - The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Mamoru Mohri, Chief Executive Director) will hold a talk session, "Imagination + Science: Imagine the future with AI" as part of the "Miraikan Focus" program, on September 13, 2019.
Artificial intelligence or "AI" is technology that has radically developed in recent years. What kind of society awaits us in the future in which AI has been sophisticatedly developed? It is science fiction, or "Sci-Fi", that plays an important role in imagining future visions. Possibilities of a future society, in which content creators imagine and create, go beyond the limit of fictional works and encourage many scientists and engineers to innovate cutting-edge science and technologies.
At Miraikan, we will focus on the video game "Detroit: Become Human" to think about our future with AI. The video game depicts a society with an advanced robotics technology and AI at an incredibly high effectiveness, which will be a trigger and greatly update our imagination. What will happen in the advent of an AI society? How should we design a relationship between AI and humans? Based on visions that "Detroit: Become Human" created, we will discuss these issues with a game creator and researchers and think about our future.

Mr. David Cage
Chief Executive Officer, Quantic Dream
He is the head of the game developer studio "Quantic Dream" founded in 1997. He is known as a game creator generating interactive games which appeal to players' emotion and unfold stories in various ways. His latest work "Detroit: Become Human", which tells of an overwhelming near-future vision and immersive experience awarded several times.
Dr. Hirotaka Osawa
Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, Information and Systems, University of Tsukuba
He is an assistant professor in University of Tsukuba with his research field being human-agent interaction, including development of anthropomorphic devices, simulation for social agent using social games, and humanity studies using science fictions. He is also the project leader of JST RISTEX HITE Program and Member of Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of Japan. Dr. Osawa received his PhD in Engineering, MS and BS in Computer Science from Keio Universit
Mr. Yoichiro Miyake
Lead AI Researcher, Square Enix Co., Ltd.
He has been involved in development of video game titles while researching game AI technologies as the lead AI researcher at game development company from 2004. He also serves on the board of Digital Games Research Association JAPAN(DiGRA) and the Society of Art and Science. Lead AI Architect of "FINAL FANTASY XV"
