約40年ぶりの国産旅客機としての復活が期待される次世代の小型ジェット旅客機。戦後初の国産旅客機YS-11以降で初めて、新しく国産旅客機として三菱航空機(株)を筆頭とし、多くの民間企業が参加して開発が進められています。95万点におよぶ膨大な数の部品からなる飛行機の製造は、量産が実現すれば多くの雇用と経済効果を生み出すことが期待されています。日本の技術を結集した「日本の翼」の復活は、様々な夢と希望を乗せて今まさに飛び立とうとしています。
最先端技術を駆使した機体設計により、主翼・胴体などで徹底的に抵抗を減らす工夫をすることで、空気抵抗と騒音を大幅に減らします。また、従来の同クラスの旅客機に比べて2割以上の大幅な燃費向上を実現します。尾翼を主体として、日本の誇る炭素繊維複合材料が採用されています。最新の操縦席や、スリムシートを採用した客室など、操縦士にも乗客にも快適な旅客機であり、世界中での活躍が期待されています。

Exhibition Cooperator: Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation

MRJ is the small, next-generation passenger jet which is expected to revive Japanese passenger aircraft for the first time in about forty years. MRJ is currently being developed by Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation with participation of a large number of private-sector companies as the new domestic passenger aircraft since YS-11. The manufacturing of this aircraft made up of as many as 950,000 parts is hoped to generate a large number of jobs as well as positive economic effects. The revival of“the wings of Japan,” realized through concentration of Japanese technologies, is about to take off, carrying various dreams and expectations.
The leading-edge technology adopted for wing and fuselage development has made it possible to dramatically reduce air drag and noise by devising means of exhaustively reducing drag at primary wings and fuselage. Furthermore, fuel efficiency will be improved remarkably by more than 20% compared with existing passenger jets of the same class. The carbon fiber composite material that Japan is proud of is used for such parts as the tail wing. MRJ is also a comfortable passenger jet for pilots and passengers alike as it is equipped with the state-of-the-art flight deck, and slim seats for the cabin, and it is therefore expected to be successful throughout the world.
