About PICTURE HAPPINESS ON EARTH
“Picture Happiness on Earth” is a program where teenagers from the Asia-Pacific region and Japanese female teenagers will collaborate in order to create contents for the Geo-Cosmos about “Happiness”. It is estimated that by the end of this century more than 10 billion people will be living on Earth. What do we need, what is required for 10 billion people to live happily on Earth? Now is the time that is deemed necessary to think anew about everyone’s happiness on Earth. By using the data that the “TSUNAGARI Project” provides as well as logical thinking, the participants will think about the happiness of 10 billion people living together on Earth.
The characteristics of this project
-
Global Mind
The teenagers that will participate in this project, will get exposed to the culture of different countries and understand the problems that each of their societies are facing, so that they can start searching for a way for 10 billion people to live happily together on Earth.
-
Logical Thinking
By using Miraikan’s three original tools, the participants will make an endeavor to search for scientific information, analyze data and improve the scenarios using logical thinking.
-
Creativity
Through the creative process of staging, design and programming, the “Happiness” that the teenagers from the 6 countries selected will be visualized as video content for the Geo-Cosmos.

"TSUNAGARI” Project
How much do we really know about the Earth, and our connection to the planet? The “TSUNAGARI” project is an innovative approach in which we can share scientific information with the world through a new form of visual expression which can provide
us with “knowledge” on our planet, our species, and ourselves.
The “TSUNAGARI” Project enables you to understand the links(TSUNAGARI ) among life forms in the ecosystem of the Earth, and the relations (TSUNAGARI) between the Earth and you. The mission of this project is to position yourself within this TSUNAGARI and consider what can be done for the connection (TSUNAGARI) of our rich Earth to future generations in order to create your “New Earth Awareness” as we transverse boundaries and integrate all wisdom. The “TSUNAGARI” Project will be offered worldwide as a foundation for transmitting information concerning our Earth. “Picture Happiness on Earth” is a part of the “Tsunagari Project”.

Feel the Earth
GEO-COSMOS
The Geo-Cosmos, the world's first "Globe-like display" using organic electroluminescent panels, produces a rendition of our Earth shining brightly in space with a super high resolution exceeding 10 million pixels. The clouds that flow on the display are updated daily to reflect the latest imagery from weather satellites. It is possible to feel how the present Earth changes moment by moment.

Search for the Earth
GEO-SCOPE
This interactive board allows you to access various Earth observation data collected from domestic and international scientists and research institutes. You can search for information on the scale of the Earth with an easily operated touch panel. You can also view detailed data for an even deeper understanding, find relationships between data and discover new perspectives of the Earth based on your search. Miraikan designed this exhibit to become a transmission point for data concerning the current status of the Earth. Also, the e-book “Geo-Scope, Search for the Earth” is available online.

Portray the Earth
GEO-PALETTE
This online service allows you to draw your own world map based on a host of information related to the countries and regions of the world. By choosing your basic data from several hundred options and by overlapping them on a single AuthaGragh world map, you can uncover many aspects of the Earth’s environment and human activities. It is possible to share your data with other users as these self-made maps are released on our website.

Exploring new visual expressions on a spherical display
Miraikan is creating a vision for the future by collecting scientific information about the Earth and presenting and communicating the information in a visual manner that appeals to the senses. Using Geo-Cosmos as a core tool, various activities are being carried out through collaboration with researchers and artists in and outside Japan. You can see several visualizations of scientific data that are being screened on the Geo-Cosmos below.
Organizer
Miraikan (The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation) is a place where we can understand the things happening in our world today from a scientific point of view, and have discussions while considering the future that awaits us. In addition to exhibitions that provide people with a chance to enjoy hands-on contact with science and technology, Miraikan's colorful line-up of offerings includes experienced based classes, and talks, Visitors can experience the technological progress of today, from simple day-to-day questions, to the latest technologies, the global environment, space exploration and life science.
