Japanese manga culture developed dramatically from the post-war to the period of rapid economic growth. In particular, the leading characters that made their appearance in works created from the 1960s to the 1970s inspired grand and ambitious dreams among many children. Those dreams and aspirations stirred up the imagination of people and became the driving force toward the realization of dream worlds. Could we not say that they had created the Japan of today?
This exhibition uses science and technology to recreate the powers of superheroes and heroines depicted in the manga works that have motivated and driven people. It communicates the power to paint a picture of the future, the wonders of manga culture, as well as science and technology and its potential, not only to children but also to the grownups who were once children.
