Questions on Miraikan

Basically the target ages are for junior/high school and over, but since there are participation-based exhibits, there are visitors of pre-school age.

The explanations for almost all the exhibits are offered both in Japanese and English.

The museum expects freestyle viewing of the exhibitions, so visitors will personally experience the exhibitions.

Miraikan runs permanent exhibition tours on weekends and public holidays, and they guide visitors around the permanent exhibitions.

There are no suggested routes.

It will take about 2 hours, but it may be better to give yourself extra time if you will be enjoying the theater.

Yes. We will check your ticket again when you reenter. In some cases, you may not be able to reenter special exhibitions.

Please ask staff to use them.

We are sorry but we do not allow any kind of pet in the museum. We also do not keep them so please be careful. However, assisting dogs for people with disability are allowed.

You can take photos or video for personal enjoyment. However, we ask that you refrain from doing so in the Dome Theater and in certain exhibits. If you wish to take photos or video for media or commercial use, please discuss this with our press relations staff in advance.

There are diaper-changing facilities in the nursing room (5F) and in the multi-purpose toilets on each floor of the museum.

Please use the coin-operated lockers. Coin-operated lockers are located to the left in front of the entrance to the Symbol Zone on the first floor. 1 coin of 100 yen per space is necessary (refunded after use).

You can keep your luggage at the Information Desk on the 3rd floor.

  • Because of safety considerations, we may reject bicycles or tricycles inside the building.
  • Storage spaces are limited. If spaces are unavailable, we may be unable to store your luggage.
  • We do not accept reservations to store luggage.

You may bring food for consumption in the designated area. Note, however, that food and beverages may not be consumed inside the exhibition floors.

The demonstration of ASIMO ended on March 31, 2022.

At the Dome Theater, audiences can enjoy vivid and realistic movies on a dome-shaped screen. Please check the following page for more details of the screening programs.

There are two rooms for this on the fifth floor. You can also borrow prayer mats and a Qibla compass (compass used to indicate the direction to perform prayers). If you wish to use these, please ask a staff member.

Questions on access

  • There is an underground carpark with a height limit of 2.1 m and capacity of about 167 cars.
    • It is included 4parking lots for the physically challenged visitors.
  • Parking fees are 440 yen per hour up to a maximum of 1,650 yen for the same day.
  • The carpark is open from 7:00 - 23:00. Please note that cars will not be able to exit the carpark after 23:00.

Questions about online ticketing

Booking is available from midnight, one week before your visit.

You can book for up to seven people (seats) at once.
For groups of eight or more, please apply through our group booking form.

You can choose seats when you purchase the tickets online.
Seat selection is unfortunately not available when purchasing tickets in person. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Tickets for permanent exhibitions and the Dome Theater can be canceled before 9:30 on the morning of your visit. Please fill out the required parts of the entry form for “online ticket canceling” and follow the procedures.

Tickets for the permanent exhibitions, and the Dome Theater, that have already been purchased cannot be changed. You need to follow the procedures to cancel them and then re-book/purchase your tickets (you can cancel tickets before 9:30 on the morning of your visit).

You can pay by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, JCB, AMEX, and Diners Club).

Questions on touring in large groups

Visitor parties of 8 people or more can get discounts for their admission fees regardless of whether it is a school organization or a general group. Please inquire for preliminary inspection, available material, place for lunch and other matters. Always make sure to give us notice if your group is canceled.
