Geo-Cosmos

For a limited period of time, we will be using the Geo-Cosmos for special screenings that will bring together content created for this globe-like display.

The Geo-Cosmos does more than allow visitors to see the ever-changing face of our world; it has screened a variety of content, creating visuals of events happening on the Earth’s surface, so visitors can experience the “world of today.” Together with researchers and creators from Japan and overseas, we have also explored the possibilities of expression by making the best use of this spherical display’s special characteristics .

The Geo-Cosmos will be temporarily closed to the public for maintenance from Tuesday, October 5. We have selected 32 videos and visuals from works created over the past 10 years, and will be screening all of these before the maintenance begins. We will also be showing experimental works created via collaborations with arts organizations such as Ars Electronica Linz, artists from Japan and overseas, and companies such as Google. Visitors will be able to watch displays that make masterful use of many different techniques, including live filming, animation, and even visualizations of scientific data.

We invite you to take advantage of these second looks at our Earth, and enjoy the experience of engaging with visual expression created with this unique globe.

The Geo-Cosmos Will Be Closed to the Public (From Tuesday, October 5, 2021)
