March 11, 2007 Guests
Guest : Mr. Haji Mohd Jaafar bin Haji Awang Bakar (CEO of Brunei National Petroleum Company/Vice President of Brunei Japan Friendship Association, Brunei Darussalam)
Brunei Darussalam, which means "Brunei of eternal peace," is a country rich in natural gases, oil and natural resources. The standard of living is fairly high and it is a very safe place. In March 2006, as director Mohri visited the country to conduct a lecture for the science and technology event entitled "2006 Tech Challenge," he has deepened an already friendly relationship.
Mr. Jaafar, currently the CEO of Brunei National Petroleum Company, concentrated on geology and environmental management as his academic background. In the discussion he had with director Mohri, the conversation evolved from environmental preservation in Southeast Asia to a business plan focused on energy at its core. At Miraikan, as he viewed the exhibits on Earth's environment and energy with the attentive eye of an expert, Mr. Jaafar eagerly asked questions to the interpreter.
