Guest : Dr. Timothy Hunt
(Biochemist, and Chief Researcher, Imperial Cancer Research Fund)

Dr. Hunt visited the Miraikan for his lecture meeting entitled "What Is Life? Life Begins When the Cell Divides." He is a British biochemist and was awarded the 2001 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Cell division occurs in every living body. It was explained by Dr. Hunt and his co-researchers that this mechanism would be very similar in all living things.
Talks in the Director's office centered around such experiments carried out by Director Mohri on a space shuttle as the development of platannas and chickens and the crystallization of protein in a weightless state. Dr. Hunt fired questions at him about the results and the significance of the experiments.
