Guest : Super-Kamiokande(Kamioka Observatory, Institute for Cosmic Ray Research (ICRR), University of Tokyo)
This time, along with three interpreters (exhibition interpreters), Director Mohri visited the Super-Kamiokande located in Kamioka-cho in Gifu prefecture, which became the topic of conversation as Dr. Koshiba was awarded with the Nobel Prize in Physics last year.
Explanations about the facility and the current research conditions were given by the Facility Director, Yoichiro Suzuki at the Neutrino Astroparticle Observatory of Institute for Cosmic Ray Research (ICRR), University of Tokyo, located 1000 m underground. Also the facility of Tohoku University located nearby was inspected.
In the lecture meeting held at the research institute, Director Mohri emphasized, "Ask more questions to the researchers. And researchers, talk more and more about what you do." in front of a great number of people of the town in his impassioned speech. Also with about 20 some researchers participating, including researchers from overseas, a lively meeting for exchanging opinions was held during dinner at the night before.
Also after Director Mohri talked about the "Light seen in outer space and the light seen on earth" to all of the students at the Kamioka Junior High School, the interpreters of the exhibition of the Super-Kamiokande at Miraikan gave science lectures in each of the classrooms and enthusiastically talked about the current latest science and technology.
