Scenario Production Workshop
What will have to be done to provide happiness to the 10 billion people that will live on Earth in the near future? Miraikan, in cooperation with six science museums from countries of the Asia Pacific region, organized workshops with the question “What is happiness?” as its main theme. Participants from each country will design a scenario that reflects their idea regarding happiness and which will serve as a template for new visual expressions for Miraikan’s spherical display, the Geo-Cosmos. Creating the scenario will require logical thinking supported by scientific data available on the Geo-Cosmos, the Geo-Scope and Geo-Palette systems provided by Miraikan, or data available from other appropriate sources.
Video Production Workshop
What does happiness mean to teenagers in the world? Based on scenarios created by teenagers from 6 countries, Japanese teenagers will make 6 videos for the only Earth display (Geo-Cosmos) in the world. Supervised by professional creators, teenagers will take leading part in video production, design, programming and scenario composition of the final video work.
Presentation
The authors of the winning scenarios from each country, together with Japanese teenagers (the creators of the final videos) will present their work in front of Miraikan’s visitors. The presentation will take place in English and in Japanese. The topics vary from the light pollution in Taiwan, the connection of migratory birds and us humans in Japan, the methane gas emissions from cattle in New Zealand, to the current medical advancements to fight AIDS in Thailand.
