Misaki Saito

Birds have a very close relation with human life, and the existence of many birds indicates a rich environment. But how much do we understand about their importance in the ecosystem? In recent years, the number of bird species has been declining due to habitat destruction and excess hunting. In particular, we must protect migratory birds, by extending efforts to every site to which they fly. When the author moved near Teganuma where 100 bird species could be observed, he became deeply interested in our feathered friends. Thus he wants to help people take action to protect birds.

Birds play a very important, connective role in nature. But, bird numbers are decreasing because of human activities, like hunting, environment pollution, and deforestation. The creators want people to take a closer look at the relationship between humans and migratory birds. In order to generate people’s interest in birds, the creators chose a high school girl to narrate the story. At the beginning she didn't like birds, but she changed her mind once she learned more about them.
