Training Program

The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation(Miraikan) is engaged in the development of training programs to foster "science communicators" --specialists trained to link people, through understandable dialogue, with the world of science and technology. Miraikan strives to help society comprehend and then be able to share the wonders of science and technology with all others.

Fostering of Museum Staff

Miraikan fosters talented science communicators for our science center. We cultivate our people to become actively involved in society through our "skill development course" that trains and advances 3 skills in science communicators that include investigation/ research/information coordination skills; presentation/communication skills; and management skills. These skills are applied through daily operations such as the planning of exhibits and events, explanations of exhibits, and demonstrations.

Fostering of Human Resources Outside the Museum

Miraikan offers the "National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation Science Communicator Training Program" for science teachers, researchers/publicity officials of Universities/research institutes/corporations and science museum staff and others who wish to improve their science communication skills. There are 2 types of training courses, the "short-term training course," composed of 3 types of classes held 2 days each, and the "long-term training course" that enables trainees to learn as they work as a member of Miraikan for one year. Both are practical training courses that utilize the science communication environment of Miraikan and its experienced staff in fostering capable science communicators.
