"Your Future, Your Future Self - A journey into picture books with Satoshi Kako" Exhibition Outline

Concept

In this exhibition, through the scientific views of Satoshi Kako, a renowned author of picture books in Japan, we will convey the future of science and technology as we provide a place for communication for everybody from different generations to enjoy. 2010 is the 50th year since the publication of his first picture book "the Men at the Dam." Also, since this year is the National Year of Reading, this will also serve as a commemorating exhibition.

Based on the hints provided by Mr. Kako's scientific picture books, this will be planned as the first science exhibition by Mr. Kako and will tour domestically.

Characteristics of the exhibition

With a map in your hand you will tour the exhibition site with navigation provided by Mr. Kako. Inside a big folding screen, as you follow a path from the past to future, you can view cutting-edge research sites through images and digital content and think about the answers for the questions presented by Mr. Kako as if you were enjoying a Q & A session. The exhibition is put together so that you can tour the exhibition site as you talk about the future with Mr. Kako.

This traveling exhibition is put together based on the special exhibition, "Your Future, Your Future Self - A journey into picture books with Satoshi Kako" (held March 20 - May 10, 2010: 49,000 visitors) at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation.
