The "Exploration of Time" special exhibition will be held in Shibuya City [February 1 (Wed.) - March 20 (Tues./Holiday), 2012]

The "Exploration of Time" special exhibition (opened in spring of 2003), which has traveled both internationally and domestically, will be held at the Science Center for Children Hachilabo in Shibuya City. With the cooperation of universities and research institutions and under the slogan of "A Nobel Prize from the city of Shibuya," the Science Center for Children Hachilabo offers children opportunities for science experiments, club activities and the type of science, technology and math programs that they could not experience in school in order to awaken in them scientific thinking and a desire for building things.

Venue: Science Center for Children Hachilabo
Term: February 1 (Wed.) – March 20 (Tues./ Holiday), 2012
Organizer: Shibuya Board of Education
Planning and production: The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan)
- Purpose of the Exhibition -
This is an exhibition that will take visitors on a "journey" through the world of various different types of "time" as perceived scientifically. We will newly reconceptualize the "time" that we ordinarily experience nonchalantly by breaking away from the human perspectives and technology built by humans to measure time (clocks), and consider the "time" that is present in things like the universe, the Earth, life, and matter. We have achieved a unique exhibition with the cooperation of the Research Institute for Time Studies of Yamaguchi University, which is comprised of researchers in a variety of different fields, and through collaborations with noteworthy young artists, musicians, and more.
