The Harvest Moon: Let's have a moonlight party in Miraikan! Notice on the 2011 Exhibition

There will be a harvest moon on September 12. At Miraikan, visitors can enjoy watching the Symbol Exhibit Geo-Cosmos transform into the Moon, thereby allowing them to view the moon during the daytime. And why not view the Earth together with the actual Moon after sunset as well? When it is suspended in the dark, the Geo-Cosmos transforms to look just like the Earth suspended in outer space. We encourage you to enjoy the Moon viewing and Earth viewing that you can only experience at Miraikan, and ask you to take this opportunity to come by.

Renovated in June of this year, Geo-Cosmos, which realistically produces a rendition of the Earth shining brightly in space with its high resolution of over 10 million pixels, will be transformed into the Moon. Visitors can enjoy viewing images of the Moon taken with the Moon observation satellite "KAGUYA" during the daytime.

Time:
10:00 - 17:00 (Projected every 10 min.)
Venue:
1F Symbol Zone
* Can also be viewed from the Permanent Exhibition floors on the 3F and 5F.

* View the Earth at Nighttime
Why not view the Earth during the long nights of autumn? The Geo-Cosmos was created from Director Mamoru Mohri's desire of "wanting to share with people the sight of our beautiful Earth as seen from space." It was renovated in June of this year to make it a "globe-like display" that realistically produces a rendition of our Earth. In particular, viewing the Geo-Cosmos at nighttime gives one the impression of the Earth floating in space, and visitors should also be able to view the actual Moon after sunset. We encourage you to enjoy the Moon viewing and Earth viewing that you can only experience at Miraikan.
