The Earth of Dr. Johan Rockström - "Planetary Boundaries" can lead the way to a sustainable Earth

Dr. Johan Rockström
The safe operating space for nine planetary systems that Dr. Rockström proposed.

Miraikan will hold a special lecture by Dr. Johan Rockström. Dr. Rockström won the International Cosmos Prize 2015, a prize for major contributions to the harmonious coexistence of nature and mankind. Dr. Rockström points out the importance of understanding "planetary boundaries"--the thresholds within which humanity can continue to survive-- in preventing catastrophic change. Dr. Mohri, the Chief Executive Director of Miraikan, and Prof. Takeuchi, a leader of sustainable society in Japan, will join Dr. Rockström to introduce this new concept and together ponder on the vision for our future.

Speaker: Dr. Johan Rockström, Executive Director of Stockholm Resilience Centre and professor in Environmental Science at Stockholm University.
Co-speakers: Prof. Kazuhiko Takeuchi, Vice-Rector of United Nations University, the Director and Professor, Integrated Research System for Sustainability Science at the University of Tokyo.
Dr. Mamoru Mohri, Chief Executive Director of Miraikan.
Collaboration: The Commemorative Foundation for the International Garden and Greenery Exposition, Osaka, Japan, 1990 (Expo '90 Foundation)
