What are the Science Communicators?

The "Science Communicators" of Miraikan play the role of linking scientists/engineers with the general public. They create mutual communication between science and society through activities such as providing demonstrations and explanations on the exhibition floors, planning/producing media, events and exhibits as they investigate the trends behind cutting-edge science and technology research. Additionally, concerning activities outside the museum, they conduct visiting lectures aimed mainly for high school students, lectures targeting citizens, academic meeting presentations, and transmit information through media outlets such as newspapers and television programs. Furthermore, our Science Communicators engage in building a network as they frequently exchange activities with other domestic and international science communicators.
Through these activities, we at Miraikan are trying to contribute to society as we convey the attraction of science and technology and the actual situation of research activities, and research/execute new methods in order to think about the ideal science and technology of the future with each and every citizen.
Engagements to Foster Science Communicators
Science communication is an activity in which its importance is recognized world-wide as a new trend that links science and society. At Miraikan, we foster personnel that engage in this activity from two sides. One side is the fostering of internal staff and the other is the training of external personnel who aim for the improvement of their science communication abilities. Sending out personnel called the "Science Communicators" to the society through these activities is one of Miraikan's missions.
