Guest:Hon. Deepak Obhrai, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada
Date:Thursday, January 19, 2012
The Hon. Deepak Obhrai, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, visited Japan and made a stop at the Miraikan during his tour.
He perused each exhibit on the floor and showed a particularly keen interest in the Symbol Exhibit “Geo-Cosmos.” While paying attention to the size and extent of the continents and oceans, he attentively looked at the beautiful image of earth, glowing in the midst of space, from a variety of angles. Moving on, the graph displaying changing global temperatures over the past 100,000 years at the global environment exhibit caught his eye. He was surprised to learn that drastic periods of warming have cyclically occurred numerous times in the Earth’s history.
The Japan-Canada Science and Technology Cooperation Agreement celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2011. Sharing new wisdom imparted by cutting-edge science and technology on an international level will prove ever more important in ensuring the future of our life here on earth and of the global environment supporting us.
