March 5, 2008 Guests

Guest:Mr. Kisaburo Tokai (Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology)
Date:Wednesday, March 5, 2008

Mr. Kisaburo Tokai, Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, has visited Miraikan.

He earnestly viewed the exhibition of the Space Habitation Module and the LE-7A engine of the H-IIA rocket at the exhibition area of "The Earth Environment and Frontiers" before the launching of Japan's first manned experiment facility "Kibo" which will be mounted at the International Space Station. In addition to this, he emphasized how we must immediately take adequate countermeasures as he expressed how shocked he was by the results of the global warming simulation predicting the enormous effect anticipated by the year 2100 as projected on the symbol exhibit "Geo-Cosmos."

After the tour, he exchanged opinions with the science communicators working at Miraikan. It was a meaningful time as the minister openly gave his opinions as he carefully listened to the topics such as "Science Communication," "Science Education" and "Outreach Activities" which are carefully thought through on a daily basis by the science communicators.
